About us
Our story began when our love for food & travel brought us to discover foods from around the world. We just loved popping into a gelato ice cream parlor in Italy or sightseeing the coast of Greece while eating delicious calamari from a to go cup. We love that you can eat simple, sophisticated treats while strolling or spending time with family.
It was during our trip to Japan that we discovered the Belgian-inspired waffles. We immediately knew that we wanted to take these treats to a whole new level.

With our combined 50 years in the retail & food-service industries, as well as our love for cooking & baking, we had all the tools and resources right in our own kitchen in Virginia. We started experimenting with Lilian’s mom’s original recipe for Dutch mini pancakes, also known as poffertjes (pronounced POH-furt-jes).
We explored creative, new Poffy flavors that made our taste buds come alive! We created poffertjes in flavors including Indonesian-inspired sweet pandan, red velvet, matcha, pumpkin, and banana, and made a menu of fillings including chocolate chip, different varieties of jam, bacon, spam, and Gula Jawa, which is Indonesian palm sugar. We also prepared fun sauces, including strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry coulis, to name just a few. All made from scratch!

What’s in them? Our children have severe food allergies, and so we know how scary it can be when you’re not quite sure what you or your kids are eating. That’s why at Poffy, our treats are made with simple ingredients for the allergy conscious. Our poffertjes are free of 7 out of the 9 major allergens (dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, seeds, shellfish, and fish). You heard that right!
We want everybody—including moms, dads, and anyone with allergies—to confidently know what ingredients they and their family members are consuming. We understand firsthand how important it is to take a bite with confidence and peace of mind.
